Xmas in Blue Ridge, GA II

I'd like to start off by thanking Keely, with out her, none of these pictures would have been possible. She pulled a "Nintendo" (opened it up and blew in it) on the camera and it seems to be running fine now.

With that said, Xmas was not the same without family and friends, but we managed to have ourselves a merry little christmas anyway. Driving up the perilous Moonshine Hollow, I knew we had picked a good cabin. All the way atop Bullen's gap, cozy little "Meggum's Cuddle" (Named after the owners deceased wife) sits in tranquility looking out onto the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. We had a grand time, playing cards, chillin in the hammock or the hot tub. And I believe I have started a new Xmas eve tradition of Cheeseburgers and tater tots. Aside from being attacked by some of the locals dogs, the trip was great. It was nice falling asleep listening to rain and nothing else as well as waking to dense masses of fog drifting effortlessly through the mountains. Anyway thanks to everyone that sent us gifts and we missed Ya'll on Xmas.

Looking at all our pictures I realize we have become the people who treat their pets like furry little human children. I am not sure how I feel about this, but their is no turning back now. They are my babies.

No mas pictoras, !DIOS MIO!

I regret to announce my canon powershot a95 has shat or shall i say shited the bed. So I do not know when I will be able to post more pictoras because I can't take any. The camera makes wierd noises and flashes E18 before shutting off. We have done some research online and it seems a lot of canon's cameras have this problem and there aint much you can do about it.

I am currently on winter break, it feels like vacation even though i am still working. Watched the complete Band of Brothers series, I would highly advise anyone who enjoys world war films to see it, it's fantastic.

I will be the second camera assistant on a grad thesis project that starts shooting next week. 35mm Black and White, using a Movie Cam Super America. Should be fun. well thats about all i got 2 say, peace i'm outta here.

Palmetto indoor range

We decided to take a family trip to the Palmetto indoor gun range. It is only fifteen minutes away, over the bridge and into south carolina. Eileen even bust a cap, we all had a wicked pissah time and well, shucks, guns are a fun time. Not the best footage, but we were shooting it from our digital cameras.

If your local click the posts title to check out their website.

WATER DOGS

We took the dogs to skidaway state park and found a little deer trail that took us out onto the salt marshes. Noone was around so we let em loose. Winthrop had the time of his life splashing around chasing sticks, Cassidy did her best in the water as well, but constantly being rundown by her big brother and the cold took its toll. Being the gentleman that I am I gave her my sweater to warm up.

TURKEY DAY 2006

I was thankful to have a full house on thanksgiving. Keely's mom and scott drove down from Iowa, A big detour on the way back to Massachusetts. Kyle, Erin, and Trent flew in from NY and we all had a swell time. weather was pretty shitty when they arrives, but quickly warmed up to about seventy. People were wondering how we could fit everybody in our little apartment, but truthfully it wasn't that bad. You could say cozy.

Scott and Eileen were enjoying the company of their Grandpups

Took a walk on tybee beach on thanksgiving, forgot all about the bird and ended up eating dinner around 10pm. Trent is inspecting this starfish, we also saw a bunch of dolphins just a few yards of the shore.

This is the best pick I took at the gun range. Kyle: Mr. Saturday Night Special. I have some video as well, but i'll post that when I have more time.

Cassidy: First day at the beach

All right, I know it seems as if we are neglecting our first dog, but this is not true. Just previous to the beach we took Winthrop to the Tybee dog park where he frolicked with a dalmation, got his head peed on by a blood hound, and humped the hell out of some dark haired mutt. So we are not showing favoritism to the puppy. With that said Cassidy enjoyed the beach very much and wasn't the least bit frightened of the water.

The Savannah Film Festival is wrapping up this evening, I didn't get to see as much of it as I would have liked, oh well. The highlight for me was deffinitely the David Zucker (airplane, naked gun, scary movie) panel, he was a pretty funny guy. He had some great clips from his films and did a bit of Q&A.

Took Cassidy to a Pizza/Karaoke party last night here is an actual quote from a partier, "She is so cute, I could lose my mind."
And I don't think she was kidding.

Married Ninjas

It's been a while since I made a tacky photoshop collage, so I figured what the hell it's Halloween. We went to Chris and Jessica's and I was pleased to see everyone dresses up. I am not sure when it happened, but at some point Halloween transitioned into the night when girls are allowed to dress slutty, and they do, very very slutty, but I digress. We played some flip cup, and ate some chips, hooray for ninjas.

Dog Pix as requested

We were heading out the door for work and couldn't find the damn dogs. We eventually found them hiding under the bed together.

For some reason Cassidy loves to sleep with shoes, I keep finding her curled up with her head on a shoe, doesn't matter which one either, any shoe will do. (that's fun to say) We took her to the vet to get her second round of shots, and she weighs a whopping 3lbs. The vet techs didn't want to let her go they all took turns holding her, and making annoying baby voices saying things like "pwescious, who's my wittle pwescious" I puked a little in my mouth. Watched two movies today, White Heat with James Cagney, "top a the world Ma" it was really fricken good, and then Finding Neverland, which was also good, but without the fricken.

Unknown Hinson

Saturday night we went over to The Jinx and saw this guy, Unknown Hinson, he's kind of a mix between Elvis and Dracula. We got their early found a big booth and had a grand ol' time, lots of PBR tall boys. Checkem out

Chicas having a good time. One of the better evenings I've had in a long time. It's been cold as hell lately had to wear my winter jacket. it's going to be back up in the high 70's tomorrow though.

Cooling down

Well, the weather is starting to cool down, haven't seen 90 degrees in a couple weeks. Mostly in the mid 70's occasionaly back up into the 80's. The leaves are falling, but don't really offer up a spectacle like the northern foliage. The pups are doing well, Cassidy is going to be a feisty one. She has been taking long walks with us and Winthrop and she keeps up just fine. Had her first bath ever which you can see she enjoyed thoroughly. Still real busy with school and work, but I feel I'm finally learning the things I came here to learn. Got a couple costume parties coming up, not sure what i'm going 2 b, Keely is thinking about being dorothy and taking cassidy along as todo (sp.?) Well I'm tired, gonna go and watch heroes.

Cassidy P. Farrell

She has arrived. Cassidy is doing very well, her and Winthrop are getting along splendidly, he is being very gentle. He has even started cleaning her. She has yet to have an accident inside, although their was one close call. She only woke us up twice last night and her personality is really starting to show. Seems like she's going to be a chewer so we are off to buy chew appropriate items, because the 300 dollar digital camera i took these photos with is not an appropriate chew item.

Northern Georgia

With all the excitement of the Maine trip neither of us realized it was Labor Day weekend, and we both had monday off, so we quickly got a room in a super 8 ( they allow dogs) in Dahlonega, GA. Which is about an hour north of Atlanta and the home of the first American gold rush, and consequently the Trail of Tears. This area holds the beginning of the Appalachian trail at Mt. Singer. We got some good hiking in crossed over the Appalachian trail a couple of times. We also took a drive to a Neighboring town Helen, which is a strange German village.

Keely in the town of Helen

I figured while in a faux Germany do as a Faux German, so I ordered a Paulaner Oktoberfest, and the combo wurst platter featuring Bratwurst (veal and pork) and Knockwurst (beef) as well as sauerkraut, red cabbage, german potato salad(not so good) and rye bread. It was pretty damn tasty.

Looks like a pretty nice place to stop for a picnic lunch of PBJ's and granola bars, doesn't it?... well look a little closer.

A Mother F.N. Timber Rattlesnake. Somehow keely with her sweet ass quickness managed to gather up her sandwich her water and her backpack all while screaming at the top of her lungs, before the rattler could even shake his rattle. But he soon started and and I'll tell ya it sounds a hell of alot different in person. Luckily no one was hurt, unfortunately Keely wouldn't let me get any closer so you will have to deal with the sucky picture.

Northern Georgia as well

Winthrop getting comfortable in the backseat, it was about a five hour drive.

Winthrop and I hiking on Blood Mountain, I thought that was a creepy name until I found out the one next to it was Slaughter Mountain.

Hot Wing Apocalypse

On the first day of September in the year 2006 the Hamilton Hall equipment Cage employees set out to bring on the HOT WING APOCALYPSE, are only goal; to bring the Wild Wings establishment to their knees, begging, pleading, "no more wings please god help us we don't have anymore wings. Why did this happen why do we deserve this misfortune, who are you people, just who the hell are you" at this point they break down, but their tears will only fuel our laughter, and our hunger for wings

It started off pretty shaky Craig here falling into poultry shock only after a dozen wings, he did muster up the strength to consume two more wings.

Brian Titshaw gazes off in the distance summoning some foreign power and harnessing its strength to enable him to squeeze 20 wings into his girlish figure.

With a rebel yell I cried that's twenty four, two dozen wings, that's like 12 amputated chickens.

Big Andrew came through in the clutch, with lightning quick reflexes, carnage ensued, the crunching of cartoledge snapping of bones, in the end he stood atop a pile of forty wings.

in total the crew devoured over a hundred wings, but did little to challenge the maniacal corporate Giant, Wild Wings. They may have won the battle, but believe you me, we will win the war. We will rise again soaring on the call of a hundred chicken spirits, with hunger in our souls and fire in our eyes, we will meet again.

Trip up North: Maine

"She's pretty smart for a fat dog" - Actual quote from Dixie's (the dog) owner. Who had a total of three teeth and wreaked of cheap whiskey, oh did i mention it was 11am.

Woke up at about six thirty to find a thick fog rolling over Lake Annabesacook.

I know people are going to hate this picture, showing them stuffing their faces or faces all ready stuffed, but I like it. We had a big ol' thanksgiving like dinner with our family and friends in Maine. Our six day trip as a whole was fantastic we were surrounded by loved ones the whole duration we were their. The time went by too fast as it often does, but it was a damn good time anyway.
