NEW YEARS IN NEW ORLEANS

Made the ten hour trip down to New Orleans for New Years. My Brother-in-law Kyle and his girlfriend Erin are living down there currently so we decided what the hell. I asked Keely if she wanted to make the trip and she said, "It's irresponsible, it's dangerous, and we have to do it." Then we proceeded to Hi 5. (true story) Anyway we left Savannah @ 3pm friday and got to The Big Easy around midnight, their time, smart folks would have went 2 bed, but me all hopped up on the red bull decided to go out for a night cap. We made the best out of saturday, but I think the majority of us were hurtin' a bit. We did take a drive to see some of the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina and I had all intentions of taking pictures, but while driving through the abandoned neighborhoods, the devestation and emptiness was overwhelming. Nothing has been done, whole neighborhoods lie in decay. Seeing the yellow stains of the water lines, the spray painted doorways left by the national guard, and the eerie absence of life I couldn't pick up my camera. I felt like a tragedy tourist.

OK enough of that. We spent sunday afternoon in the french quarter walking around checking out bourbon st.
